I Ching 36 – Damage to Illumination

Today’s I Ching – 36 – Damage to Illumination

Earth above, Fire below.

Damage follows Advance in the Order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Advance expresses progress. Fire is above the earth and can move freely.

This is not the case with Damage to Illumination, where Fire is below the earth, with it’s light and heat constrained, contained. This can appear to damage our sense of freedom.

What now?

To everything there is a season – the ancient wise people knew this truth.

Accept what is but prepare to move forward when opportunity permits.

I Ching 14 – Great Possession

Today’s I Ching – 14 – Great Possession

Fire above, Heaven below.

Great Possession follows Association with others

In the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

In Association with Others, Fire reaches up

Toward Heaven, giving thanks for blessings

Received.

In Great Possession, Fire has assumed

A position above Heaven. This is

Inappropriate, and suggests

A lack of awareness that Heaven

(Spirit) can move through Fire

(my zodiac sign), or

Whatever, to restore a more

Appropriate relationship.

Where do great possessions

Come into the picture?

Material possessions are

Temporary illusions. The

Real treasure is a respectful

Relationship with Spirit.

I Ching 33 – Withdrawal

Today’s I Ching – 33 – Withdrawal

Heaven above, Mountain below.

Withdrawal follows Constancy in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Constancy, in this instance, expresses a more or less static way of life. This condition is contrary to Nature, where everything changes. Nothing endures. We must either develop or decline.

The message?

Endurance suggests dissatisfaction with whatever and must be resolved by either attack or withdrawal.

Attack what or who?

Never who.

Then what?

Perhaps a complacent attitude formed of habit.

Withdrawal

I Ching 51 – Thunder

Spirit shares his understanding of I Ching 51 – Thunder

Thunder above, Thunder below.

Thunder follows Cauldron in the order of the Hexagrams.

The order of the Hexagrams expresses the Universal Law of Causality. Nothing comes from nothing. All situations develop from a previous situation. How they develop and what they develop into is not entirely predetermined. Free will and choice, as well as Destiny contribute to the outcome. How we choose can be the result of habit, or awareness and intent to develop our own way through life situations not necessarily of our own choosing.

The message?

Thunder is never silent.

I’m allowed to complain?

It seems to be in your nature to do so.

I Ching 53 – Gradual Progress

Today’s I Ching – 53 – Gradual Progress

Wind above, Mountain below.

Gradual Progress follows Mountain

Spirit explains:  Sometime it seems

As if a mountain of difficulties

Looms ahead of us, preventing,

Or attempting to prevent us

From moving forward. But,

Spirit tells me, if we are

Dedicated enough, then

Any difficulty will be no

More than a challenge, and

We will move around or

Through it, whatever it takes.

The message for me?

Yes, keep moving. Slow

Progress is still progress.

I Ching 16 – Delight

Today’s I Ching – 16 – Delight

Thunder above, and Earth below

Delight follows Humility in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains: “To be aware of how far we have come, and yet to know there is still a long way to go, is to feel humility.”

“We can,” Spirit tells me,” take delight in how far we have come, without losing a sense of humility when looking ahead.”

“The message?” I ask.

“Look back” He tells me, “at what you have left, but not to focus on what you have left, but to measure how far you have come along The Way, along Our Way.

..………..

I Ching 38 – Disharmony

Today’s I Ching – 38 – Disharmony

Fire above, Lake below.

Disharmony follows People in the Home (family) in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains: We are all family but differences can lead to disharmony. Fire and Water, in equal strengths could destroy each other.

What is the message for me?

We are not equal. I will survive.

What about me?

Your choice.

I Ching 30 – Clinging

Today’s I Ching – 30 – Clinging

Fire above, Fire below.

Clinging follows Double Danger in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains: “Double danger is moving from danger into greater danger. Fire over fire suggests the direction we have taken”.

“Now what”? I ask, sensing a personal message.

“Open your eyes and your mind,” He tells me. “We must look back, now and then, to see where we have come from. Are we moving uphill or down? Without looking back we can’t measure our progress.”

I think I get  the message: approval of my moments of nostalgia.

…..

I Ching 6 – Contention

Today’s I Ching – 6 – Contention

Heaven above, Water below.

Contention follows Waiting in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit Explains:

For those with purpose, waiting is not an option.

When what we desire seems almost

Within our grasp, then we will

Confront and overcome, whatever

We must, and are able to,

To achieve our goal, and

With such intent, almost

All things are possible.

What is the message for you,

Chela, He asks me.

Fight the good fight

With all my might?

Yes.

I Ching 4 – Immaturity

Today’s I Ching – 4 – Immaturity

Mountain above. Water below.

Immaturity follows Difficulty in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Everything is difficult until we learn how;

How to stand, how to walk, how to speak,, …

I interrupt. And how to think?

What to think, Spirit corrects me.

Immaturity is not necessarily

Forever, if the immature one

Has faith and guidance…

And trust?

Yes., but not misplaced trust.

How can I know…

Experience is required and

Life provides us with

All that we need.
