Time Out From Struggle

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom

contained within the I Ching Hexagram 34 – Great Power.

The yang trigram Thunder is above Heaven, also yang.

Only the top two yin lines provide instability and flexibility.

Great Power follows Withdrawal (33) and leads to Advance (35).

How can any power, let alone great power, come out of

withdrawing from whatever?

Withdrawal is not necessarily acceptance of defeat. There are

times when it’s wise to step back. This can provide us with

a greater perspective and a clearer vision on how to move

forward.

A battle is only a battle if we see it as such. For some it is

no more than a challenge to our commitment to move

forward.

There is nothing personal in struggles, conflicts, or obstacles

in our path unless we believe there is.

A personal message?

Yes. What’s your greatest challenge?

To what?

Moving forward.

Resistance.

Resistance is not necessarily rejection.

The difference?

Acceptance.

Of what?

Me.

Tomorrow Will Come

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom
expressed within the I Ching hexagram 51 – Thunder. Thunder
is over Thunder, expressing a form of yang that has double
its normal potential of active energy.

Thunder develops out of the situation expressed by The Cauldron
(50) and, in turn prepares the foundation for the experience
referred to as Mountain (52).

Every situation we experience today can help to prepare us for
whatever tomorrow will bring to us. We develop skills and
increased awareness of what skills will best serve us in
whatever particular situation.

Tomorrow will come, whether or not we prepare for it.
Yesterday helped us, more or less, to prepare for today’s
challenges and, as life is an endless series of situations
and experiences, how we live today will determine, at least
to some extent, how well we’ll cope with whatever tomorrow
brings our way.

Life is a Master Teacher, and provides us with experiences
that offer incentives to master personal skills and coping
strategies. How we cope with whatever challenges that
tomorrow brings will depend very much on how we live today.

Wow! I’m glad that message applies to people younger than me.

It applies to everyone, always.

Today’s I Ching – 41 – Reduction

Today’s I Ching reading by Spirit.

Reduction follows Solution.

Spirit explains:

Solution expresses an ending of struggle. There is a way out.

A light turns on. A puzzle has been solved. Finding a solution

reduces built-up stress, at least temporarily.

Why only temporarily?

Struggle is necessary for growth and strengthens self-confidence.

How?

We learn through experience that we can find a solution to

Whatever challenges Life presents us with.

Is it a game?

Yes, and the game is a gift of Life.

Today’ I Ching Reading by Spirit – 5 – Waiting

Waiting follows Immaturity in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Immaturity doesn’t last forever. We learn and grown,

Each in our own time and in our own way.

Waiting until we are more prepared to face

Whatever challenges Life presents us with,

Doesn’t work.

We must live each day as we now are.

The message?

We develop maturity with intention and practice,

Not by waiting.

I Ching 44 – Meeting

Today’s I Ching – 44 – Meeting

Heaven above. Wind below.

Meeting follows Removal.

Spirit explains:

Removal expresses separation from, perhaps not willingly.

To stay or to go, when we know we must go. However,

Wherever we go, we bring our experiences of our past

With us, through  among other things, lessons learned,

Meeting suggests a new beginning. There will always be

Situations and challenges that must be faced, sooner or

Later. These will serve to develop our self-confidence and

Expand our awareness of Life.

Is there a personal meaning for me?

Yes.

I Ching 64 – Unsettled

Today’s I Ching – 64 – Unsettled

Fire above, Water below.

Unsettled follows Settled in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Settled suggests an end of struggle.

A goal has been reached.

However, when one day ends,

Another begins. Hexagram 64

completes a series of events

And situations. Challenges

Have been faced and dealt with,

More or less. Now we are restless

To move on.

I interrupt. What about time out?

Spirit sighs at my simplicity.

There is no time out.

Oct. 30,2013 – I Ching 13 – Association with Others

Today’s I Ching – 13 – Association with Others. Heaven above, Fire below. Association with Others follows Obstruction in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains: Even islands must associate with the water surrounding them. Obstructions challenge us, or invite us, to create solutions. Life requires us to associate with people, places and situations.

I hesitate, but I ask Spirit what His reading means to me.

Do you always enjoy associating with others?

Some can challenge my patience.

Yes, a service that friends usually choose not to offer.
