The Road Ahead is Only in Your Mind

Spirit explains the I Ching hexagram 61 – Sincerity.

Sincerity follows Discipline in the sequential order
of events and situations experienced along the I Ching
Way to enlightenment.

When discipline and sincerity travel together within
the mind of the seeker of wisdom and truth, then
progress is certain.

What if they’re both going down the wrong road?

Then, progress is still assured.

Then, discipline and sincerity are not sufficient
to progress in the desired direction?

Yes, they are not.

What else is required?

Awareness.

Of what?

Not of what?

Where?

Yes.

Then, a map and a guide are required?

Yes.

My mind would resist.

Why?

A certain sense of personal responsibility for choices
of directions taken or forms of discipline accepted
and followed would require me to question myself and
any teacher, regardless of how much I might admire her
or him.

Yes, and that is as it should be.

Then, why do I regret not being able to completely
accept your way as my own.

My way should never be accepted as your way.

Why?

It would not be unique.

Must it be?

Yes.

Then, how can all ways merge into one and still
remain unique?

They merge into the one that is beyond uniqueness.

How can anything be beyond uniqueness?

We each are a unique aspect of Life and each are
contained within Life.

Then, what is the purpose of my struggle along
a unique way if I am already within what would be
the destination of my unique way?

A simple purpose; to develop awareness of what you are.

And then?

And then to expand your awareness.

To include what?

To include the awareness of all otherwise unique
aspects of Life.

Otherwise unique aspects?

Yes. They are only unique until you absorb their
awareness into your own.

Then your way becomes mine?

Yes.

It looks like a long road ahead.

Yes, but that’s just the bad news.

There’s good news?

Yes. The road ahead is only in your mind.

When Intervention is Unavoidable

Spirit Teaches I Ching  – Hexagram 30 – Clinging

Spirit explains: “Clinging is composed of Fire over Fire and follows Double Danger (29) and leads to Sensing (31). This situation has been described as being between a rock and a hard place. Fire does not easily let go of whomever or whatever it is clinging to. The best protection from it is prevention.”

“The second best?”

“Avoidance.”

“How is it possible to avoid a danger that threatens those whom you love?”

“Yes, it is not.”

“Then what?”

“Then we each must choose how to respond.”

“Some form of intervention?”

“Yes. It is both necessary and unavoidable.”

Meeting is never random

Spirit shares His understanding of Hexagram 45 -Gathering. Lake is over Earth; yang over yin, with lines two and five in harmonious correlation with each other; yang in the leadership position on line five, and yin in the balanced and centered support position of line two. Gathering follows Meeting (44) in the order of the hexagrams, and is followed by Rising (46).

Spirit explains:  “A meeting is more than a gathering. It is a gathering with a purpose, a shared purpose.”

“Why does meeting come before gathering?”

“We cannot gather without first meeting.”

“Whether we know the people we are meting, or not?”

“Meeting is never random.”

“Even if we have never met before?”

“Yes.”

The Army Enforces Law and Order

Today’s I Ching – 7 – The Army follows Contention (6) in the order of the hexagrams, and leads to Closeness (8). Earth is over Water; yin over yin. Only lines two and five complement each other, and even then with yin on a yang line and yang on a yin line.

Spirit explains: “Political contention can be expressed as protest demonstrations . When and if leaders abuse their positions of trust and ignore the will of their people, then protest results.”

“Or submission?”

“Submission doesn’t work.”

“And the army does?”

“Temporarily, yes.”

“Why temporarily?”

“The army enforces law and order, but has allegiance to both sides.”

“But, what is resolved?”

“The army isn’t designed to resolve anything.”

“Who, then?”

“Individuals.”

“Are we going in circles?”

“No.”

“What, then?”

“Cycles.”

Here and Now is Where and When

Spirit’s I Ching reading for today.

The Creative (I Ching 1) is a beginning and follows nothing.

Yesterday’s I Ching was 55 – Abundance, but not even abundance

Is ever complete in itself.. Creativity expands, alters, or destroys

Whatever must be expanded, altered, or destroyed in order to

Create what is to be.

Abundance is not unlimited abundance but creativity is

Unlimited and able to expand abundance to infinity.

There are no limits, He tells me, to either human or

Universal creativity, for we are one with the other and

Within the other.

Time does run out in individuals.

We each are beyond individuality.

But, down here at a grass roots level …

At whatever level.

But, here and now …

Here and now is where and when.

Spirit’s I Ching 21 – Biting Through

Today’s I Ching reading by Spirit – 21

Biting Through follows Observing.

Spirit explains:

Everyone interacts with the world they live in, the world that we

Seem to know we are part of. And, yet, many of us observe

This world as being outside of ourselves. This is an illusion

That we must learn to bite through.

The skin of an apple is often firm and yet, if we bite through

This protective layer we reach the tasty fruit that waits for us,

Just beneath the surface; our reward for the effort taken.

Why do I sometimes feel that I am more a part of the

Outer skin than of the inner reality?

Perhaps we all live on the surface of Life, with some of us

Being more aware than are others of how deep our roots

Reach down and dissolve into Life itself, to become nutrients

For our future.

It sounds deep.

It is deep, and we are part of it.

I Ching 58 – Pleasing

Today’s I Ching – 58 – Pleasing

Lake above. Lake below.

Pleasing follows Wind.

Spirit explains:

Wind is moving energy and all energy moves.

How it moves affects our relationship to it.

A gentle breeze may be pleasing to the senses,

While a strong wind almost invites resistance.

The message?

Be prepared.

How?

Awareness of change as it happens.
