How High is High Enough?

Spirit’s lesson for today relates to I Ching Hexagram 47 – Exhaustion.

The yin trigram Lake is above yang Water.

“They say the road of love is rocky and it’s rough, but if this road

don’t start to get smooth, then I’ve traveled it long enough”

is part of an old song that I can relate to regarding my ongoing

struggle with my spirit teacher as he guides me along the way

to enlightenment. But, what if He’s just luring me down

a garden path that never ends?

That’s exactly what my intentions are.

But, why?

You were ready.

As in “when the student …”

Yes.

Why didn’t I know there would be so much painful,

experiential content to the lessons?

Struggle is necessary.

But, I’m exhausted. Can’t we rest a little.

No. To rest is to lose ground.

I’m losing touch with ground moving.

That’s not possible.

Why?

The ground beneath us will always be there.

Where?

Within you, in one form or another.

Please explain.

Matter is an expression of energy …

And where I’m at in my mind determines the density?

Yes. It’s as simple as that.

Meeting is never random

Spirit shares His understanding of Hexagram 45 -Gathering. Lake is over Earth; yang over yin, with lines two and five in harmonious correlation with each other; yang in the leadership position on line five, and yin in the balanced and centered support position of line two. Gathering follows Meeting (44) in the order of the hexagrams, and is followed by Rising (46).

Spirit explains:  “A meeting is more than a gathering. It is a gathering with a purpose, a shared purpose.”

“Why does meeting come before gathering?”

“We cannot gather without first meeting.”

“Whether we know the people we are meting, or not?”

“Meeting is never random.”

“Even if we have never met before?”

“Yes.”

Spirit’s I Ching 49 – Revolution

Spirit shares His understanding of Hexagram 49 – Revolution.

“Revolution follows The Well, and there is a purpose in this order..Revolutions create change that  might not otherwise happen.

Left unattended or neglected, well water can become stagnant and unhealthy to drink. When this happens, the stagnant water must be removed and replenished with fresh, life-sustaining water. However, caution must be taken not to damage the structure of the well, itself, while removing the polluted water.”

“It sounds political.”

“It is political.”

“Why?”

“Life is political. It has a purpose.”

I Ching – 40 – Solution

Today’s I Ching – 40 – Solution

Thunder over Water

Solution follows Halting.

Spirit explains:

Halting suggests not moving, as a sailboat

On a lake, without a breeze.

Thunder stirs the air.

We need to make a noise?

Sometimes that’s the best solution.

Ask a child.

I Ching 43 – Removal

Today’s I Ching – 43 – Removal

Lake above. Heaven below.

Removal follows Increase.

Spirit explains:

Spring rain raises the level of a lake to overflowing.

Visualize a lake held high by Heaven. The emotion,

Love, is as such a lake, overflowing and pouring

Blessings on everyone and everything below Heaven.

The message?

Where are you?

I Ching 61 – Sincerity in the Centre

Today’s I Ching – 61 – Sincerity in the Centre

Wind above, Lake below.

Sincerity follows Discipline in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Yes, in a voice of authority, as if to recapture

The attention of a wandering mind .

I had dared to entertain a cynical interpretation

Of wind over water. Spirit continues:

Discipline for its own sake is worthless,

More or less, unless it can be

Transferred to a purpose, other than

Its own. However, sincere effort

Is of high value, even if

Progress is slow.

Should I ask Spirit what His reading says

To me?  No. I pass,

As in a game of cards.
