There is a Place For Everyone in an Ideal Community

Spirit shares I Ching Wisdom.

Today’s I Ching situation is 10 – Treading.

Treading follows Small Development and
Leads to Tranquility.

Small Development refers to building
community with others.

This is not possible without each member
understanding and accepting certain rules
of relating to others within the community.

We share responsibilities and work
according to our individual nature and
abilities, and yet everyone requires
a sense of dignity and self respect,
knowing she or he is valued for whom
they are and for their contribution
to the harmony and productivity of
the group.

Treading is the outcome of resisting
the temptation to focus on doing
our own thing, but choosing to serve
our unique role within the community.

How could one relate to oneself in such
a community?

In what way?

Surely we each need to develop our own
ideas and create our own vision
of what and who we want to become.

It would require an awareness of how
those personal desires fit into and
serve the community, and how well
one’s energy resonates with the role
chosen by or for us. The role chooses
us as much as we choose the role.

But, what if I am well suited to
the role that somehow chose me,
and yet I prefer another?

Someone else may be doing what you
would prefer to do, so your service
in that role is not needed, whereas …

Duty?

Yes, but you could play the other role
in your spare time, as a hobby.

But, if I have a passion for
a certain role …

Then, perhaps Universal Laws would
consider that role for you,
at another time.

What Universal Law?

The Law of Attraction.

I thought that law attracted people

It does.

I mean specific people to specific
people.

It does that, too.

Then, where and how does it attract
me to a specific role within
a specific community?

You would be attracted to a community
in which you felt comfortable, or
tranquil, within.

And then I would seek to find how
I might contribute to that community?

Yes. If you are of no use to them,
then how could you feel valued?

What if I have no special skill
but I require assistance from
that community, for whatever reason?

Then your personal needs would provide
other members of the community with
an opportunity to express sharing and
caring for those who are unable or
less able to care for themselves, and
sharing and caring are forms of
applied love.

So, there is a place for everyone
in an ideal community?

Yes.

The greatest pleasure or the least pain?

Spirit shares I Ching wisdom.

16 – Pleasure

“Do what you love and love what you do” has been used
as an advertisement to enroll in classes that will lead
to a successful career earning an income working at
something that brings you pleasure.

It also expresses the thought that we will do best
what we choose to do for self-satisfaction and not
for its dollar value, alone, or for social status.

That sounds great, but ..

You do not agree?

I do agree.

And yet?

It isn’t always possible.

Why?

We must choose …

That’s what it’s all aobut.

What is all about choosing.

Life.

Life may be about choosing ..

Not may be. It is.

But, sometimes we choose, not for the most
pleasure, but for the least pain.

Is there a difference?

Perhaps not in the final choice, but ..

So, we sometimes sacrifice pleasure?

At least short-term.

For delayed or postponed satisfaction?

Yes.
Why? You’re testing me. Yes.

The Value of Signs of Aging

Spirit shares His understanding of the timeless wisdom of I Ching, as expressed in Hexagram 22 – Adornment.  Mountain is over Fire; yin is over yang. Adornment follows Biting Through (21) in the natural order of  progression of the hexagrams and leads to Striping Away (23).

“An adornment is a decoration. It adds value without necessarily serving a practical purpose of its own. It can be as icing on a cake, or gravy on steak, or as precious stones worn around one’s neck, arms, fingers, or pinned to hair or clothes. It might also be something that can be set on a table, to be admired.

Biting Through suggests successfully completing a mission of importance, to oneself, if to no other. Something needed to be done, and now can be celebrated and remembered with an adornment as a reward.”

“That sounds very nice, but what personal message of inspiration can it have for me?”

“Do you possess something that seems to remind you of something else?”

“Such as?”

“Perhaps the many small lines on your face.”

“They only remind me that I’m getting older.”

“Have you earned them?”

“I think so.”

“Yes.”

I Ching 2 – The Receptive

Today’s I Ching – 2 – The Receptive

Earth over Earth

The Receptive follows The Creative.

 

Sjpirit explains:

 

Receptive expresses willingness to be directed, as students

By a teacher whom they accept as having something of value

To share with them.

 

The message – is it personal?

 

Yes and no.

 

We each have something of value to share with those who

Recognize the value of what we willingly share, the gift of

Learning. The teacher has no power to do this for us.

 

Not everyone seems willing or able to recognize value, and

We cannot receive learning if we are not receptive.

 

We must open our mind. Learning is not a passive action.

Today’s I Ching – 4 – Immaturity

Mountain over Water.

Immaturity follows Difficulty.

 

Spirit explains:

 

As mountains can rise up out of water, we can and will,

Each in our own time and in our own way, rise out of

Immaturity.

 

Is there a personal meaning for me?

 

Yes.

 

It isn’t easy.

 

Spiritual struggles, and in essence, all struggles are spiritual,

Are designed to be difficult.

 

Why?

 

To give value to the goals.

 

Which is?

 

Awareness of their value.

Today’s I Ching – 16 – Delight

Delight follows Humility.

 

Spirit explains:

Even if we possess much we can still feel humble.

To take delight in what we are blessed with and

Still feel humble expresses contentment.

 

Possessions of themselves cannot bring pleasure

Unless we possess what we value.

 

The message?

 

What do you value?

I Ching 61 – Sincerity in the Centre

Today’s I Ching – 61 – Sincerity in the Centre

Wind above, Lake below.

Sincerity follows Discipline in the order of the Hexagrams.

 

Spirit explains:

Yes, in a voice of authority, as if to recapture

The attention of a wandering mind .

I had dared to entertain a cynical interpretation

Of wind over water. Spirit continues:

Discipline for its own sake is worthless,

More or less, unless it can be

Transferred to a purpose, other than

Its own. However, sincere effort

Is of high value, even if

Progress is slow.

 

Should I ask Spirit what His reading says

To me?  No. I pass,

As in a game of cards.
